Richard (Dick) J. Harrington is Chairman and General Partner of The Cue Ball Group. A renowned industry leader in information media, Dick brings deep industry and operating experience to Cue Ball. He most recently served as the CEO of the world’s largest information services firm, The Thomson Reuters Corporation (NYSE:TRI). At Cue Ball, Dick helps set the overall strategic direction and plays an active role across investments. He has received many honors during his career, which include the “Legend in Leadership” award from Yale University and the “CEO of the Year” award from the Executive Council, both awarded in 2007. Dick is Chairman of the Thomson Reuters Foundation and serves on the boards of directors of Xerox Corporation (NYSE: XRX), Aetna (NYSE: AET), MiniLuxe, and the Norwalk Community College Foundation.
Background
Dick is the former President and Chief Executive Officer of The Thomson Reuters Corporation. As CEO, he led the transformation of Thomson from a diverse holding company into the leading global provider of electronic information, software and services. Over the 11 years of his leadership of Thomson, he quadrupled cash flow and tripled market value of the company. Additionally he has led more than $30 billion in transactions, with the most recent and most visible acquisition for Thomson being Reuters in April 2008. Dick started his career in a family business and as a CPA with Arthur Young & Co.
